CAT 2024 Slot 2 QA Q22 Ratio, Mixtures & Averages
Question 22 of the Quantitative Ability (QA) section, CAT 2024 Slot 2, with CAT's official answer and a worked solution.
When Rajesh's age was same as the present age of Garima, the ratio of their ages was 3 : 2. When Garima's age becomes the same as the present age of Rajesh, the ratio of the ages of Rajesh and Garima will become
- A4 : 3
- B2 : 1
- C3 : 2
- D5 : 4
Answer: (D) 5 : 4 Ratio, Mixtures & Averages MCQ
Solution
- Let the age gap be \(d\), so Rajesh \(= G + d\).
- \(d\) years ago Rajesh was \(G\) and Garima was \(G - d\): \(\frac{G}{G-d} = \frac32 \Rightarrow G = 3d\), Rajesh \(= 4d\).
- In \(d\) years Garima will be \(4d\) and Rajesh \(5d\): ratio \(5:4\).
