CAT 2025 Slot 3 QA Q16 Time, Speed & Distance
Question 16 of the Quantitative Ability (QA) section, CAT 2025 Slot 3, with CAT's official answer and a worked solution.
Ankita walks from A to C through B, and runs back through the same route at a speed that is 40% more than her walking speed. She takes exactly 3 hours 30 minutes to walk from B to C as well as to run from B to A. The total time, in minutes, she would take to walk from A to B and run from B to C, is
TITA: type in the answer. There are no options and no negative marking.
Answer: 444 Time, Speed & Distance TITA
Solution
- Walking speed \(w\), running \(1.4w\). \(BC/w = 3.5\) h and \(AB/(1.4w) = 3.5\) h.
- Walk A to B: \(AB/w = 1.4 \times 3.5 = 4.9\) h.
- Run B to C: \(BC/(1.4w) = 3.5/1.4 = 2.5\) h.
- Total \(= 7.4\) h \(= 444\) minutes.
